Course outline:

  • Discussion of artist's work, training and career.
  • Ways and quantity of paper used everyday.
  • History of papermaking
  • Exploration of plants used to make paper
  • Mixing pulp.
  • Forming a sheet of paper
  • Development of paper into artwork,
    book or other product.

Objectives:

  • Teach students what it is like to be an artist.
  • Make students aware of how paper is made, how much we use and how it impacts our environment.
  • Tie history to the development of paper and it's gradual spread throughout the world.
  • Allow students to try their hand at making paper.
  • Show students how to use handmade paper to create a finished work of art.
